22nd Galeb Trophy – Serbia Open 2025: A World-Class Taekwondo Event

The 22nd edition of the Galeb Trophy – Serbia Open 2025 was successfully held on April 5–6 at the “Ranko Žeravica” Sports Hall in Belgrade, Serbia. Once again, this renowned international taekwondo tournament confirmed its place as one of the largest and most prestigious G1 events in Europe.

This year’s Serbia Open G1 gathered hundreds of competitors from around the globe, bringing together athletes from dozens of countries across Europe, Asia, and other continents. In the senior division alone, over 340 athletes competed, marking another impressive turnout and reinforcing the global appeal of this event.

World-Class Athletes and Results

The 2025 edition saw the participation of numerous high-profile taekwondo athletes. Among the most notable were Turkish champions Emine Göğebakan and Merve Dinçel, both current world-class competitors. Dinçel, a former world champion and Grand Prix medalist, took gold in the women’s -53 kg category, while Göğebakan secured the title in the -46 kg division.

Serbian athletes also had an outstanding performance on home soil. Iva Brajović claimed silver in the -46 kg category, and Andrea Bokan earned silver in -53 kg after tough matches against the Turkish stars. In the men’s division, national team members Žarko Krajišnik and Stefan Takov stood out—Krajišnik won silver in -68 kg, while Takov dominated the -74 kg category to take gold. Another highlight was Aleksandra Perišić winning gold in the women’s -67 kg division.

These results not only reflect the strength of the local Serbian taekwondo scene but also showcase the international competitiveness of the event.

Professional Organization and G1 Ranking

Serbia Open 2025 was once again officially sanctioned as a G1 ranking event by World Taekwondo. This status demands strict organizational standards, from certified refereeing and digital scoring systems to the overall execution of the event. The tournament was organized under the auspices of the Serbian Taekwondo Association and the Galeb Taekwondo Club, with technical oversight from international officials.

All matches were conducted under the highest professional conditions, earning praise from coaches, athletes, and international observers alike.

In addition to senior matches, the tournament included cadet and junior divisions, where young talents from Serbia and neighboring countries such as Slovenia made their mark. Clubs and individuals received special awards for outstanding performance, and the event offered participants access to training camps and technical seminars as part of the extended Galeb program.
