This weekend, Ljubljana once again becomes the center of international taekwondo as the Slovenia Open 2026 gathers athletes from across the world in the famous Tivoli Hall.

According to the President of the Slovenian Taekwondo Association, Zlatan Ranđelović, this year’s edition brings together a large international field of competitors and confirms the tournament’s growing reputation on the European taekwondo calendar.

“We are happy to welcome 550 competitors from 49 countries today,” said Ranđelović in his opening message. “The first day of competition is dedicated to cadet and junior athletes, while tomorrow we continue with the G2 tournament, which will feature 460 competitors.”

The Slovenia Open has established itself as one of the most important taekwondo events in the region, attracting national teams, top clubs, and emerging talents from across Europe and beyond. The tournament provides valuable international experience for young athletes while also offering ranking opportunities in the senior categories.

With hundreds of fighters competing across multiple categories, the event promises two days of intense matches and high-level performances on the tatami.

Ranđelović also expressed gratitude to all participating teams and wished the athletes the best of luck throughout the competition.
